Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 2026 · Last Updated: September 18, 2026

Domestic Dynamo is two matched apps that share one employment record: a free app for domestic workers, and a paid app for their employers. This Privacy Policy covers both apps. We are privacy-first and offline-first by design — data about your working relationship is only ever shared between the two matched accounts it belongs to, never sold, and never shown to anyone outside that relationship.

Introduction

Domestic Dynamo ("the Apps," "we," "us," or "our") is a product of DynamoLabs, a division of Dynatek (Pty) Ltd. It consists of two companion apps — the Domestic Dynamo Worker app and the Domestic Dynamo Employer app — built for South African domestic employers and the people they employ. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share information across both apps.

Information We Collect

Domestic Dynamo (Worker app): your name and contact details, ID or passport number where required for compliance records, clock-in and clock-out times, leave requests, and the payslips and employment records your employer shares with you through the app.

Domestic Dynamo (Employer app): your name and contact details, your domestic worker's employment details (name, ID or passport number, start date, pay rate, hours worked, and leave balances), banking details you choose to enter for payslip generation, and UIF reference information where you provide it. If you subscribe, your subscription and billing are handled entirely by Google Play — we never see or store your card details.

Generated by the apps: notification identifiers and your device's time zone and locale, used only to log time and display reminders correctly.

How We Use Your Information

To record and calculate hours worked, generate compliant payslips, track leave and UIF status, and help both sides of the employment relationship stay aligned with South African labour law. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles from it.

How Data Is Shared Between the Two Apps

Domestic Dynamo is built around one shared employment record between a matched Employer account and Worker account. Time entries, leave, and payslips an employer records or generates are made visible to the matched worker, and vice versa for time logged directly by the worker. This sharing happens only between accounts that have been explicitly matched to each other — never with any other user, and never publicly.

Data Storage & Security

Employment records are stored on your device and synced securely between matched Worker and Employer accounts so both sides always see the same up-to-date record. Sensitive credentials are kept in your device's secure storage (Keystore or the equivalent) and are never transmitted except as required to sync your own matched account.

Data Sharing

We share data only as needed to operate the apps: between your matched Worker/Employer account as described above, and with Google Play for subscription billing on the Employer app. We do not sell, trade, or share your data with advertisers, marketing companies, or data brokers.

We may disclose information if required by law — for example, to SARS, the UIF Commissioner, or the Department of Employment and Labour, where legally compelled to do so.

Data Retention & Deletion

Employment records are retained for as long as the matched accounts remain active, and for the minimum period South African labour law requires employers to keep payroll and compliance records thereafter. You can request deletion of your data at any time, subject to those legal record-keeping requirements; uninstalling an app does not by itself delete data already synced to a matched account.

Your Rights & Choices

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Because Domestic Dynamo's core purpose is a shared compliance record, some data cannot be deleted unilaterally by one side where the other side has a legal record-keeping obligation — in that case we'll explain what can and can't be removed.

If you're in the EU or another region with its own data protection regulation, you have equivalent rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and withdrawal of consent.

Children's Privacy

Domestic Dynamo is not intended for children under 18, in line with South African labour law on domestic employment. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and will delete any such data if we become aware of it.

Third-Party Services

The Employer app uses Google Play Billing for subscription payments. We are not responsible for Google's privacy practices — please review Google's privacy policy independently.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a security breach affecting your data, we will notify affected users without undue delay, describe the breach and protective steps taken, and cooperate with the Information Regulator and law enforcement as required.

Updates to This Policy

Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notification, by email if provided, and reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
